Along with his father, Andy was brought up by his step-mother, whose name is Nancy Hillstrand, who took care of him and other five brothers who lived and grew-up together in their house in Homer. From being a child, Andy witnessed the hard work his father and his grandfather, Earl David Hillstrand, did being a part of the fishing business. Nevertheless, Andy was not afraid of that hard work, and started helping his father at an early age. Later they never complained about being involved in the family business since they all understood it was their only chance for a good and full life.
When Andy was seven years old, he took his brother Johnathan and they went fishing all by themselves. Other brothers, David and Michael, also contributed in the family business. No information is available about his college or university education, if any. The first season of the show was launched in , showing several fishing vessels competing to catch the biggest haul while fishing in the Bering Sea.
He also write his own music. Andy loves dogs, and supports social campaigns for example, The Humane Society of the United States which raises awareness of the right pet. Andy is an NFL fan, and enjoys spending his spare time watching some matches and games. He is also a certified diver and an RC pilot. Personal life Andy has been married to Sabrina, for more than 25 years. Merely at the age of 7, Andy began fishing with his brother. While Andy followed fishing in his early years we have little or no information about his education.
We can say he chose seas over anything and has achieved success as a commercial fisherman. Andy spends half of his married life in the sea which can be tough in any relationship. Also, fishermen getting a divorce is not an unheard story. Unlike others, Andy has been married to Sabrina Hillstrand for over 33 years. He credits his wife for success in the relationship. But I got a good woman, I guess. Andy and his wife gave birth to both of their daughters Cassandra and Chelsea Hillstrand in Alaska.
Both parents call Cassandra Cassie. Cassie inspired Andy to learn horse riding and the story is interesting. Cassie had asked a horse as a present for her eighth birthday, although Andy and his wife thought it was too soon they indeed bought one. Neither the Time Bandit nor any of its other crew members returned to show in the following season. It would seem that, like his brother, Andy has also effectively retired.
Johnathan eventually made his return to the show in season 16, and so did the Time Bandit season There was a lot of misunderstanding. We thought Discovery had everything they needed, but then they came back and said they needed pickup shots, so our schedule was pretty much screwed. So we butted heads for a while. Despite this, both brothers signed on for two more seasons and remained a crucial part until the end of season The couple trains horses and gives horseback riding lessons at the ranch.
